What Is STEM?

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines, science, technology, engineering and mathematics, in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. This campaign also addresses the inadequate number of teachers skilled to educate in these subjects.

Sunshine State Superkids will be offer a soap box derby style STEM program. This program will offer FREE to the children and families. This program will be for the summer of 2022. The program will start on Saturday June 5th.

How the program works:

The program will run for about 2.5 hours a day with up to 6 days of classes.

The first class will be quicker than the rest, the children will be introduced to the concept of soap box derby and the rules that will be used in each class section. Then we will work on making teams, with at least 4 per team. The team will consist of Stock car 7 to 11 and Super Stock car 12 to 16. Once all that is done, we will give out schedules for the classes.

The classes ages will be set up for Saturdays for 2.5 Hours each. The schedule will have 4-6 teams per session with there being 2 to 3 sessions on any given Saturday.

Once all the classes are done, we will have had a race day scheduled and they will be able to go out and race them. Each child will get a 2 runs cycle with a weight change for each child. This will give the children to have bragging rights. Trophies and awards to all of them.

Superkids STEM Goals!

Each dollar raised will all go to support the Superkids STEM Programs with goals of:

  • To offer a program for children (ages 7 to 16) a free program.
  • To educate and inspire youth through a fair and honest competition and mentorship.
  • Teach our children science, technology, engineering, and math skis in a fun way.
  • Create a meaningful, fun project and standards based inter-curricular learning opportunities.
  • Instill basic skills of workmanship, the spirit of competition and the perseverance to continue a project from start to finish.

Imagine your child building one of these car with a team of friends over the summer and racing against cars and teams.

The summer of 2023, we will be having a STEM Program for the under-privileged children in our area. Watch for more information
